UK DEBUT TOUR FOR NEW MASERATI QUATTROPORTE

Twelve Maserati Quattroporte have just started a ‘Debut Tour’ of the UK to mark the arrival of the all-new Italian luxury saloon in this country. Each Maserati dealer will collect their demonstrator from Maranello in Egham (Surrey), before departing on the ‘Debut Tour’ to mark the arrival of the famous brand’s luxury saloon with right-hand drive.

The Quattroporte’s Debut Tour, which will visit four Maserati dealerships in the UK, started at Maranello in Egham, and will then call at Meridien in Lyndhurst, Dick Lovett in Swindon and finish at PJ Evans in Little Aston tomorrow.

"The Quattroporte is an important model for Maserati and its dealers in the UK," comments Philip Mills, Operations Director for Maranello Concessionaires. "Our new flagship model combines the soul of a luxury saloon with the heart of a dynamic GT sportscar, to create a modern, distinctive, sophisticated car with a unique appeal. The Quattroporte Debut Tour allows us to show off the latest model to sport the famous Trident badge to potential customers and enthusiasts for the marque in an exciting way that reflects the huge interest already generated across the UK by the finest exotic sportscar. The tour also gives us an opportunity to focus attention on our dealer network which has enhanced and expanded its facilities significantly during recent months."

In response to rising UK demand for this new model, many companies in the Ferrari and Maserati dealer network have invested heavily to improve their sales and service facilities for the brands’ growing number of customers.

After the extensive refurbishment of its Egham site, including the opening of the largest Ferrari and Maserati Service Centre in the world, Maranello opened two new facilities in St. Albans and Sevenoaks. The Dick Lovett Group invested more than £2.2 million in a completely refurbished facility in Swindon and a second dealership in Cardiff. PJ Evans opened two brand new facilities in Little Aston and Hagley, while Stratstone has just opened a larger site in Manchester.

Graypaul is planning to close its Sheffield and Loughborough sites when its all-new Nottingham facility is ready in October. It will be the UK’s largest Ferrari and Maserati dealership.

The 171 mph Maserati Quattroporte delivers sensational, refined performance. The award-winning V8-powered four-door saloon mounts the transmission in-unit with the rear axle for a uniquely balanced weight distribution (47 per cent front – 53 per cent rear) and responsive handling brilliance that cannot be beaten in this class. The six-speed Maserati DuoSelect transmission is perfectly matched to the high-torque 400 bhp engine. No two Quattroporte cars need to be the same and customers can select from 15 exterior paint finishes, 10 leather interior colours and a host of option packages or individually tailored equipment choices offering over four million possible trim combinations from the Officine Alfieri Maserati Personalisation Programme.

The Quattroporte’s on-the-road price of £69,995 includes a three-year ‘peace of mind’ service package as well as Navtrak vehicle tracking system. Like other Maserati models, the Quattroporte enjoys a three-year/unlimited mileage warranty. The latest Maserati is classified in insurance group 20 and Maserati UK anticipates availability of 150 cars during 2004, with first customer deliveries expected in early May.

QUATTROPORTE WINS THE RED DOT DESIGN AWARD

In recognition of its exceptional design, the new Maserati Quattroporte has received one of the most sought-after design prizes in the world - the red dot: best of the best.

This seal of quality is awarded every year by the Design Centre of North Rhine/Westphalia in the international "red dot design award" competition for exceptional design quality.

The growing significance of high-quality design is demonstrated by the high level of entries for the red dot award: product design 2004. After last year’s total of 1,494 submissions, the Design Centre of North Rhine/Westphalia received a record number of 1,673 submissions from 148 designers and 449 manufacturers in a total of 32 countries in this year’s competition.

Maserati Quattroporte Citation

The challenge of translating the philosophy of the Maserati Quattroporte into a style with true conviction was a task for an exceptional designer. Maserati gave the job to Sergio Pininfarina and his design team. The connection between Maserati and Pininfarina goes back more than 50 years. The world renowned designer was responsible for the creation of such striking Maserati models as a version of the Maserati A6 1500 Coupé and the Maserati A6GCS Barchetta.

For the Maserati Quattroporte, Pininfarina once again calls on his credo of "design is a harmony of proportions", and implements it in a truly stunning way. From every angle, the vehicle exudes the elegance and reserve that one expects from large luxury saloons. At the same time, that little extra feature is also visible from every perspective – the feature that, with its varying accentuation, characterises the car’s sporting appeal.

This interplay is particularly evident on the front of the car. The large radiator grille, typical of Maserati, lends the cars the same aggressive dynamism that classical sports cars also have.

The long bonnet is also typical of a GT as is the short tail, which still offers a boot storage capacity of 450 litres. The harmonious lines of the passenger compartment afford exceptional internal dimensions and highlight the character of a luxury sports saloon. Of note in this context is the Maserati Quattroporte’s wedge design, which not only creates more space in the back, but also increases the car’s aerodynamic efficiency.

Britain's passion for all things Italian is well known and this March the Modena-based car manufacturer struck a chord in the hearts of luxury car buyers in the UK recording its best-ever sales month. MASERATI AND FERRARI TO STORM BRITISH SHOW

* Biggest-ever British Motor Show presence for both Italian marques

* UK debut for new Ferrari 612 Scaglietti

* UK debut for new Maserati Quattroporte and GranSport Coupé

* Special celebrations to mark Maserati's 90th anniversary

Ferrari and Maserati will take the British Motor Show by storm in May when three new models make their public debut at The Sunday Times Motor Show Live from 27 May to 6 June at Birmingham's NEC.

Both brands will exhibit together at the show with dedicated zones on a shared 550m2 stand in Hall 6, which will also include a special Formula 1 car from the world championship winning team. A grand total of nine Ferrari and Maserati road cars will be displayed offering enthusiasts a unique opportunity to compare these exotic models at Britain's only International motor show.

FERRARI

A star among stars, the all-new, all-aluminium 612 Scaglietti four-seater Ferrari raises the art of grand touring to a new level of sophistication. Longer, wider and taller than the 456M it replaces, with a wheelbase increased by 350mm, the 612 offers ease-of-entry for rear-seat passengers to an outstandingly luxurious cabin which will accommodate four adults in absolute comfort. Powered by Ferrari's most advanced V-12 engine, the 612 Scaglietti has a top speed of 199 mph and features, for the first time on a Ferrari, a computerised electronic stability and traction control system.

MASERATI

Maserati is celebrating its 90th anniversary this year and there are two new cars for British enthusiasts to see for the first time at the Show.

The latest addition to the Maserati range, the GranSport is a more aggressive alternative to the regular Coupé GT, which celebrates the sporting soul at the heart of the car by offering more power and even sharper handling in a model focused on delivering high performance. The GranSport looks especially purposeful with its deep front spoiler, airflow-controlling side sills, discreet bootlid spoiler lip, chrome grille, lowered ride height and larger, 19" Trofeo racing-style alloy wheels. The 4.2-litre V8 engine punches out 400 bhp (up 10 bhp on the Coupé GT) through a deep-rumble sports exhaust system and the Cambiocorsa paddle-shift six-speed transmission offers 35 per cent faster gear changes (in Sport mode) and a five per cent higher top (6th) gear ratio compared to the Coupé GT.

A luxurious sporting saloon with the dynamic heart of a thoroughbred sports car, the Maserati Quattroporte delivers sensational, refined performance with an on-the-road price of £69,995 including a three-year 'peace of mind' service package. The award-winning V8-powered four-door saloon mounts the transmission in-unit with the rear axle for a uniquely balanced weight distribution (47 per cent front - 53 per cent rear) and responsive handling brilliance that cannot be beaten in this class. The six-speed Maserati DuoSelect transmission is perfectly matched to the high-torque 400 bhp engine. No two Quattroporte cars need to be the same and the customer can select from 15 exterior paint finishes, 10 leather interior colours and a host of option packages or individually tailored equipment choices offering over four million possible trim combinations.

Throughout The Sunday Times Motor Show Live, the complete range of Ferrari and Maserati cars can be seen in Hall 6 at the NEC.

MASERATI AND FERRARI ROLL INTO MOSCOW

Moscow 19 March 2004

After a spirited dash across Northern Europe, Sweden, Finland and Saint Petersburg in Russia, a Ferrari 575M Maranello, a 360 Modena, a Maserati Quattroporte and a Spyder Cambiocorsa have arrived in Moscow. They attended a press conference organised by importer Mercury, as a huge crowd of Muscovites gathered for the official launch of Ferrari and Maserati in the Russian market.

There are high expectations for the two brands in Russia, not least because this Tour offered further confirmation of just how reliable the two brands are when faced with the toughest of climatic conditions.

"The official marketing will begin with the opening of the Showroom in Moscow in the second half of May," announced Maserati Sales Director Roberto Ronchi. "But even now, we can predict selling at least 100 Ferraris and Maseratis in 2004 alone."

"The Russian market has enormous potential," said Ferrari Maserati Group Communication Director Antonio Ghini, "but as is traditional, Ferrari and Maserati both want to maintain the requisite brand exclusivity and respond to spontaneous market demand without forcing it, as that wouldn’t be part of the Group’s policy."

The Russian and Northern European Tour left the Maserati headquarters in Modena on 5 March and cut through Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Finland and Russia as far as Saint Petersburg and Moscow, before setting off on the return leg through the Baltic Republics, Poland, the Czech Republic and Austria. The cars are expected back in Modena in late March.

Great attention was also focused on Formula 1, in view of the upcoming second leg of the F1 World Championship which takes place in Malaysia this weekend.

Russia will be the 50th country conquered by the Ferrari Maserati Group as a result of very high demand and strong market interest.

Holder of the Constructors’ World title for the last five Formula 1 seasons, Ferrari’s most important world markets are the United States, Germany and England. The market situation is quite similar for Maserati which also looks set to garner fresh victories on the racing circuits courtesy of the new MC12 after it makes its track debut in mid-season.
